On Sunday, 23 April, members and friends of our group ran a grand total of almost 150km around Tempelhof Airfield to raise funds for Amnesty International. That’s 2 marathons and 3 half-marathons!
Our 22 runners were a diverse group, coming from 13 countries and spanning a 40+ year age gap. Some had been running for years, others less so. Our group member Szymon only took up running when we signed up for the event, and he amazed us all (and himself) by completing his 5k in 25 minutes.
The weather was challenging, to say the least — we battled wind, rain and hail. We were jealous of our neighbours’ tent — until it tried to fly away. Maybe next year we will fly our Amnesty kite, but this year it would have been a liability!
We have almost reached our target of €1500 and welcome further contributions. You can sponsor us here!
Many thanks our fabulous backup team, and a special shout-out to Laurie, Hozefa and Cristina for motivating whole teams of their own. We do hope you’ll be back next year — when the sun is bound to shine!
